^{_{Abstract : This panel discussion will examine weaknesses and gaps in the perceptions of intelligence embodied in current AI and AGI systems and identify ways to go beyond them. Major topics addressed include misconceptions of the nature of intelligence (the need to remove “artificial” from artificial intelligence), roles for quantum computing and multiple areas of optimization, incorporating uncertainty through probabilistic analysis and simulation optimization, and paths to meaningful inclusion of causality. Recent developments in solving large scale optimization problems that bear on these topics will also be addressed. The audience will be invited to participate actively with questions and observations based on their experience with modern AI and AGI systems.}}
